Great Inagua BEQs
U.S. Coast Guard Facility, Great InaguaIsland

Scope of Work:

Royal Concrete Concepts provided Very Low Maintenance Housing units and a desalination plant for the US Coast Guard Operations at the Bahamas Turks & Caicos Aviation Deployment Site.

All units were constructed near to completion off-site at the Royal Concrete Concepts manufacturing plant in Florida and were delivered by barge to the island.   Because labor and construction equipment was not available on the island, RCC provided all site work, with cranes and heavy machinery  also transported via barge, in order to complete the project on behalf of the US government.  Although the project began during the heightened hurricane season of 2004, all work was completed on schedule for February of 2005.

UPDATE:  The Coast Guard facility at Great InaguaIsland took a direct hit by the eye of wall of Hurricane Ike at Category IV strength in August 2008. Despite damage to 80% of the homes in the area, Bruce C. Brown of the U.S. Coast Guard reported on-site that the buildings provided by Royal Concrete Concepts “look as good today as they did before the storm, (with) no damage.”
