Next Generation Classroom

The next generation modular classroom is the basis for both stand-alone concrete relocatable classrooms and a design guide for future buildings composed of modular units. The design will aid projects obtain LEED certification via the use of the modular building units through the use of elements such as sky-light tubes, polished concrete floor finish, recycled content, concrete mix design incorporating fly ash, reduced heat island effect, certified wood products, and efficient waste management. The building is intended to aid in LEED certification without dependence on site-related LEED credits. The classroom is also designed to be compliant with the Collaboration for High Performance Schools (CHPS) Best Practices for Relocatable Classrooms, the only standard currently in existence specifically designed to enhance the sustainability of relocatable classrooms.
